In regards to Katerina and Edstaves Wedding

Alright,

I'm posting this as an OOC courtesy for everyone who was dealing with the wedding of Katerina and Edstave.

Let me begin with the matter of preparation --- or lack thereof.

I'll first start with the fact that Katerina and Edstave approached Adayne ICly about the wedding April 7th 2006. I know the precise date, because I made this post specifically at the request of those two: http://forum.skotos.net/showthread.php?t=54187

The above post outlines EVERYTHING needed -before- you can get married ICly.

Now, onward we go. I (and Ada) had -very- little knowledge of what was going on with the wedding. It was left up to Carella ICly, as it is her only job in the Faith. She couldn't make it. Ada was going to fill in. ICly, Ada isn't feeling quite up to par. ICly, Ada isn't supposed to marry someone if she isn't up to par. She has to be in a rather stable mind frame - she isn't. I, personally am still battling the Fall Plague of 2006. AKA: A flu that has lasted about 4 weeks now. Adayne was sent the information that she'd have to hold to wedding YESTERDAY. Yes, that's right. Yesterday. I won't be conscious at 2 pm Castle Time. That's 8 or 9 PM for me. In fact, I'm already dead tired. I knew I'd be tired when I woke up at around 2 am my time because I was asphixiating (however you spell it) and got the box and scroll notifying Ada she'd definitely have to do the wedding.

So, instead of just -sleeping- through it, which I probably should have done. She and I postponed it. Which is in the scroll to Katerina ICly.

There is the IC reason - which had anyone actually BOTHERED to ask, would have found out.

And there is a partial OOC reason. My ass is going to be comatose by 8 pm, if not sooner.

Another factor into this is Katerina and Edstave had about SEVEN months to file their assists for their things required. As stated above they didn't. The cake came in a week ago, the flowers a day or two ago.

Upon this coming to my attention, I filed an assist stating I postponed it. To clarify: The Staff was going to BUST THEIR ASSES for a WEDDING that was tossed in their lap a week before it was due. And I, Keri, filed and pushed it back as the player of the First Acolyte.

As was just stated by Edstave "It's a game." A game the Staff *volunteers* for. Only to have 20+ flowers, a special cake and god knows what else pawned off on them to code at the last minute when they're already understaffed as is. It's inconsiderate and highly unfair to THEM.

Now, this probably wouldn't be such a big deal if there hadn't been SO much time from the initial posting till now. But there has been, and the wedding was pushed back. I'm ill, it'd be nice if they had more time and people got more considerate about things.

And closing statement, feel free to flame me and find flaw. Thanks.

This is completely, totally untrue.

1) Ed and Kat filed for their hearttokens and rings almost 6 months ago. One order came back screwed up, the other order was lost to the ether.

2) Ed and Kat have been trying to arrange a date for months, and they've been told ICly that they could not arrange it so far in advance. They've been given the run-around in every shape and form imaginable.

3) Ed and Kat tried filing their order for flowers in August. They were told they were filing their order too soon, and couldn't do it without a date.

4) Ed and Kat filed their order for food 4 weeks in advance.

5) Ed and Kat had a backup plan for the wedding, which, evidently, also fell through.

It's -totally- understandable that RL things come up. Totally. But when you're scheduing the lives of at least 8 people around an event, then find out the day of that it's been cancelled, obviously feelings will be hurt. I don't fault anyone, and have not said that I do. It's frustrating. And the tone of this message is completely uncalled for, considering we've been planning this for 9 months, and have tried, even resorting to begging to order things far in advance only to hit a wall.

The facts I posted remain, but if all that (on YOUR end) was sent in, then I'd be looking at the people who were supposed to file it for you.

I'm not aiming to upset anyone, my sick can't be helped, but whoever it was that didn't file it is really up the crap creek without a paddle.

Working on a compromise. Will page it.

I appreciate Adayne's player battling through the flu to put this together. We're back on.

However, it has to be said, that we did everything we were supposed to, according to protocol, long, long in advance. We'll chalk it up to there being very few weddings in CM, but if people did not say what they should have, or did what they were supposed to, blame should not rest on our shoulders, and it's wrong to throw blame at Kat's player and myself for doing everything right. We did not involve the staff early-on because all orders were simple, without the use of SP's. That's the way it should have been handled, and was.

For the record, this has been on the blueprint table since the spring. It's not like we put this together willy-nilly or waited until the last minute. Any character will tell you that this wedding has taken all of Kat & Ed's time.

Sorry, but this is crazy. I was going to be there but then I went and made RL changes twice....for something that's a game, it's really odd. And for the record, I received a scroll about food and a cake a week ago. yes, you may of sent a missive to Geoffry or filed an assist, but it's easy to exhaust all of your IC options with regards to food, there are only three of us who can do it.

Anyway, I'll change things around and make the food. But seriously, this is silly.

I fail to understand what's silly or so hard to comprehend about this.

A scroll was dispatched (two scrolls, in fact) to Geoffry over a month ago. When he didn't respond (which, by the way, is pretty typical -- I've ordered from Geoffry before, and received no response, but still received the food for the event I was planning), we panicked (because it's a wedding) and spoke to Osric.

While I can understand it may seem like short notice for Osric (and is), we went through proper channels and gave the proper amount of notice to the proper people.

How this can be flung at us, as if we didn't properly prepare, is what's silly. We've been grateful to folks IC and OOC for busting their humps on this after there has been so many screw-ups. I just don't understand the animosity.
