Hi, I'm Shrimp. I stand by the reeds on the south end of Market Street, and spend most of my days fishing. If you ask me, I'm happy to give free fishing lessons to anyone who wants them.

But how do you fish you ask? Lets take a look at some of the common commands, and their uses.

The first and main use of fishing, is the 'fish' verb. To use it, you must provide a water target that has fish in it. At this point, typing 'fish bay' or 'fish water' will work, as long as you are on the docks near the bay.

This command like that will make you start fishing with your hands. Later you can get tools, Fishing Nets, Fishing Poles, Fishing Spears, and even throwing rocks at fish to catch them. All of these can be used with the syntax: 'Fish in water with my <tool>'

Fishing is based on your stats, and depending on what you chose in character creation, different ways of fishing may be good, or bad for your character. There is also luck involved, so not every try will be successful.

You can catch 4 things at this point from the bay. The first being the point of this, fish. Fish are eatible, but are raw, and your taking a bite out of a fish straight from the water. We are all animals, but the consideration is we act like people, and desire to have our food cooked. So be aware if you eat your raw fish, that some characters may rp being disgusted.

But eating isn't the main reason to get fish, the reason is to sell them. To sell your fish, you need to offer them to an npc. Any npc should take them and give you a coin in response. So, like if you want to sell the fish to the teacher where I stand at the docks, you type: 'give my fishes to teacher'. Be aware of a couple of points, try not to save up 100+ fish to sell at one time, as that lags things, and spams any players in the room. I sell my fish every time I pull in my net, so I never sell more than 7-8 fish at once.

As to the other three things you can fish up. Buckets, items you can put fish and other stuff in. Trashed boots. and seaweed(again eatible, but raw). Are all labeled as trash items. You can put them in a trash can, or more viable for the system use the @discard command to destroy them completely. You can even put a bunch of things in a bucket then @discard to destroy that bucket to destroy everything in it as well in one shot.

You can fish just with your hands if you have the nack for that, or you can use a tool. Each tool has a different stat use when useing them for fishing.

Nets in particular take strong arms, but you get many fish, at smaller sizes. Along with trash. You can 'empty my net' to spill everything. Or 'take weeds from my net', 'take fishes from my net', 'take buckets from my net', or 'take all my boots from my net'.

Spears and poles and rocks, use other stats, and can get larger fish, yet only one at a time.

You can buy nets for 20 denarii, and poles for 10, from the fishing merchant just down Dock Street one step west from where I usually stand.

I do ask that you have patience with me, Rhino's arn't known for their smarts, so it takes time for me to teach, sometimes much longer than useing the teacher. I also sometimes stare off into space between net pulls, but stay patient, and I will see questions and respond eventually.
