The Rose Ball
Twenty-seventh day, second moon, eighth year of recent awakenings
The Rose Ball To the Denizenry of Her Majesty's Castle Marrach: in accordance to the will of the Lord Chamberlain, upholding the duties charged to me as an Aspirant Chronicler, I hereby submit the chronicle of The Rose Ball Saturn's evening, on the 24th, the Outer Bailey theatre was full of people as the the Garden Society hosted the Rose Ball. The event is a celebration of the blooming of roses which happens just every six moons. The ball is thrown to help promote the flowers, as well as the Garden Society as a whole. When asked what was expected for the evening, sera Kitra replied "People dancing, enjoying themselves, and giving thanks to sera Finna for the wonderful evening." The theater was decorated with streamers of mint and rose, as provided by Mistress Adalyn. There was an abundance of food and drink for the guests, prepared by the Royal Cook, Geoffry. Upon entering the theatre, guests were greeted by sera Finna and given a small posie of roses. They ranged in colors from snow white, blood red and also pink. A fourth and more extremely rare color is that of the gold tea rose. The posies themseves were small and delicate with three tea roses bunched together. It was tied with a green silk ribbon. As the seventh late bell began to toll, guests began to enter the theatre. Upon her entrance, Mistress Adalyn took up position on the stage and lifted a glass instrument from her person. After playing a few notes, a good sized group of four musicians entered the theatre. The music was lively and full of life. Several denizens danced through the evening, while others socialized. Near the middle of the ball, a sera entered the event. She was cloaked and believed to be the same one that made an earlier appearance this year which is detailed HERE. She walked to the Royal Provost, which caused a Sergeant of the Royal Guard and the Sheriff to approach as well. After a private exchange of words, the Provost then instructed the Sheriff,"Detain her." Then pointing at the Sergeant, he remarked 'You with me.', and the Provost and Sergeant ran from the room. The Sheriff, aided by other guests of the event, detained the cloaked woman, until the Provost returned. He apologized to the cloaked woman and told those present to let her free, when she promptly took her exit. After the confusion had settled, Mistress Adalyn and sera Camellia, a Royal Player, took the stage and began to play a lovely melody. The Mistress played a lap harp and the sera a viol. When later asked what inspired them to play the music, the Mistress replied,"We were inspired to play it by the Rose Ball itself. By the dancing, the merriment..." to which she added that the music itself was an original piece. Sera Camellia stated the music was best described as 'Meaningful'. Finally, as the ball drew to a close, the Royal Seneschal arrived looking for the Royal Provost. While members of the Sentry left to find the Provost, the Seneschal spoke to those present and strolled around the room taking in the decorations. At last the event was ended, the musicicans were gathered and the decorations taken down. As a parting note to sera Finna, sera Kitra spoke,"It was a great ball. You are the best!" This chronicle will be subject to changes and corrections, as I humbly ask that the readers indicate to me any falsehood I may have mistakenly communicated. It is through the preservation of the Past that we continue to serve Her Grace and give strength to those that will follow. In service to Her Majesty Queen Vivienne, the Lord Chamberlain, the Chronicler's Office, and the Denizenry of our Gracious Queen's Realm; ser Keal, Aspirant Chronicler |
